Have a 440 lok twist wire baler that giving me a problem. When the tieing mechanism kicks in it won't quit, just continues to attempt to tie and makes a big knotted mess out of the wire. Bought this baler over 10 years ago without much baler experience. It has been such a good trouble free machine that its never had a break down, therefore I don't have much troubleshooting ability. Theres not any of these old machines in my area so local help isn't available. I would appreciate any insight into what the malfuntion is.

Check the plastic spacer in the bale length? Look for flat spots. It some times has to be replaced If it has much of a flat spot. When it keeps on tying it will be something in the bale length mechanism. If I remember right you have to move the base part a little to the rear. I don't have my books any more so I can't call the correct names. You are right in that these balers baled many bales between problems.
