I've got an IH B 275, diesel when started cold it hits on 3 cyl. and smokes. After 15-20 min. run time, it hits on all 4 and stops smoking. #3 cyl. is the bad cyl. I've swapped injectors from another cyl. set overnite, started cold and the same thing happens, after 15-20 min. it's running fine. Not an injector problem. Could it be: 1. Bad lifter 2. Siezed up valve rocker arm. 3. Bad rings. 4. Scored piston. Any suggestions????? ?????

I"m not a deisel expert but I do have a B250. Ask tractor vet if there is a chance the glow plug is weak and it has to wait until the heat from the rest of the engine helps get the combustion going. Just a thought from a guy who doesn"t know either.

Tear down and inspect sounds like low compressionor . maybe a cracked precombustion chamber . Not sure on this one .
