Trying to find out what year and horsepower my H is. Serial # 2987709. Also, What does Farmall "FBH" stand for? Appreciate any information anyone can give me on this tractor.

If you scroll down, they have the Nebraska test data as well. Unless they completely missed the number key, that should be accurate.

I have a NE test data book (not published by UNL) -- I wouldn't bet on it being accurate either. I have never understood the Nebraska tests. Similar models are often weighted different and operated in a different gear. I suppose they pick the optimum weight and gearing for each tractor--but in my opinion that doesn't give a real world comparison for two similar tractors. The tests are probably useful as a rough guess. But I'm not an engineer.

Barry,

As to what the letters actually stand for, I think Guy Fay, the author and a real expert on Farmalls, once answered this for someone else. And yet I can't find his answer in the archives. Perhaps you could ask him by starting a new thread with "Need Guy Fay's Help. Just a suggestion.

David

The H is got about 27 - 28 hp"s at the PTO and 25.5 at the bar. As for FBH I was told that F= Farmall And the B/H stood for row crop tractor and size or tractor not sure. Andrew

FBH is the prefix for a Farmall H. Your serial number is 1 digit too long...

If the first 3 numbers are correct it is a 1948.
