There is a Farmall 656 near by that I am interested in. Whould you offer for it. It is a gas tractor with wfe. The last time it was running was 3 to 5 years ago. The engine is not stuck. Sheet metal is good and tires are fair. It also has a three point and power steering. Are there any problems that this model of tractor it noted for?

656 Gasser has not been run in a couple years in my book 2500-3500 tops as you have no idea what your going to find and you could vary easy drop 5000-6000 in repairs and that does not inculde tires paint or new seat .

GC,

Like all gas tractor engines, it will need an overhaul 'bout every 5,000 hours.

I dunno, but I think when a tractor just "sets" it does them no good at all and would lower my value on the darned thing.

However, those 656s are really in high demand. A diesel could fetch as high as $7K I've been told. A running gasser will probably be worth somewhere around the $5K mark.

There is a Hydro 70 (same thing as a 656) on ebay right now that I'd just about bet my last pair of socks that it will bring $10K.

Sure seems high, but they really are one heck of a good tractor.

Y'all got me curious now. What's the major differences between a 656 and a 666, other than the year? other than maybe the (gas) engine size and the alternator, are they not pretty much the same machine?

Problems with this tractor, I don't know if this was a model defect or just that tractor but my grandfather owned a 656 and going down the field, he had to turn the steering wheel 26 times to keep in a straight line, that was caused from the power steering. They finally got it down to about 6 turns but grandpa said the heck with and sold it. I would say 5500, see what he says maybe a little higher.
