Just sold my M :-(

Well, I know several told me not to do it but I just didn't think I would be using it enough to keep it running well and didn't want it to sit idle and not be used like it should be.

I got a 1996 Kubota with a loader and decided that if I could get a good price for the M I would go ahead and sell it.

I sold it for exactly what I paid for it and got a years worth of use out of it and learned a lot while using it. I sold it for $2,500 with an old post hole digger that I had never used that I got with it when I bought it. The guy I sold it to seems like he will take care of it and really appreciated the care that I had put into it. I told him that he was welcome to call me if he had any questions or anything.

My M wasn't a collector's item but a working tractor with an aftermarket 3 point hitch and some oil leaks here and there but I'll miss it.

I've still got plenty of pictures of it though!

Amazing that you can get attached to an old piece of iron in just a year!

Thanks everyone for all the great advice and help along the way. This is a GREAT forum and I'll still check in periodically and who knows, maybe I'll end up with another old farmall sometime down the road.

Thanks again, Nathan

Hi Nathan. If I had been able to get the posting to work the day you wrote for our thoughts on selling the M when you got the Kubota.....Oh, well. One of the things I tried to tell you about is www dot tractorbynet dot com. The guys over there can be helpful with the sort of stuff you'll run into with the newer utility models. Good luck with the new one.

Nice looking M. You will get just as attached to the Kubota, maybe more. When I sold my Kubota, a year later went over to the guys house, and I just had to give the ol' Kubota a big hug. It just brought tears to my eyes.

I had a BN my father owned for a while then passed on so I tore it down to piece parts and put it back like new. When I had to move a thousand miles to maintain the work ethic I had to sell that tractor and still miss it some but hey the world moves on and ya gotta move with it. I do know I put that one old tractor back to what it once was if not better. With any kind of care at all it should be around at least another 40, 50 years. I made it nice enough and sold it well enough it'll be difficult for folks to just let it go to rot. I done what I could.

I can't say that I know how you feel, I've only sold tractors that I only used a couple of times and couldn't afford to keep.

If I were to let go of my H, that would be a different story. I've put my heart and soul into the rebuild and upkeep of the old girl and hope we can be companions for the next 50 years or so.
