My boy inherited Super M with 6 volt system, with negative ground. Hooked up wrong?

Originally they were positive ground. If it has a voltage regulator intended for positive ground, the regulator will eventually be damaged. Otherwise it makes no difference as long as the generator is polarized properly and is charging.

I think all IH tractors were positive ground until what? 1955 or somewhere in there?

yeah, my 300 is positive ground, it was built in 1955

Funny thing, my Dad's 1955 400 is a 12V and is positive ground.

My 350 is 12 volt positive ground .Pretty sure it left the factory that way.
