questionable brake bands - H

I have an ongoing problem with the brakes on my H. It started with grease soaked linings, which lead to new seals, bearings, broken carrier, etc. The top eye tore off the aftermarket bands in about 3 months (happened serveral times). IH dealer bands are thicker, lasted longer, but the spot welds on the top eye let go.

Is anyone making brake bands with a seperate heavier eye that is rivited on to the band ? Has anyone bought bands from oem lately ? Their picture is too poor to tell how the bands are made.

This is just an idea, but have you ever checked to see if the actuating lever is not bent or damaged. I couldn't get one brake to work right on our tractor, and it turned out that the actuating arm I picked up at the junkyard had been broken once and was rewelded incorrectly. I put the old one back in after breaking it out of the old cover and it worked just fine. Just a thought.
