I have been looking more for the live pumps and wondered if anyone know what pumps fit the 1950 M and newer M's. I know someone said the super M pumps do. What else do they pumps fit? Would a 400 LP one fit and M? Are diesel version different and also LP versions? What models will interchange? Thanks Alot

Super M pump will not fit a M if it is IH pump.the bolt holes on top are 1/2 in. wider on the super M. You can make this work by changing the front cover on the engine using a super M cover on a M. Or you can use a M&W pump from a M or super M the holes are slotted on the M&W pump and will fit both. and yes the gear comes off pretty easy. and will fit the IH & the M&W pump. I hope this helps

Yes that helps some. I thought the Super M just fit. Is the front cover hard to change? What about the 400-450 or the 350's. Not sure if they had the pumps or not.

Ok, looked through the archives....

Serial number 22082 is the split for the front cover change. after that number the IH pump will fit. The M&W will fit the earlier ones because of the slotted hole.

Also, the diesel and gas used a different pump because they rotate opposite of each other.

Hope this helps!

Mike

There is a serial number break in 1950 where the Ms used the wider spacing in the front cover. After that the M, Super M, 400, and 450 pumps can be interchanged. Take a tape and measure your bolt holes, IIRC the earlier version is 3 1/2" and the later is 4". If you have a stock "M" you might want to replace the cam gear with a later one as I've heard the regular M gear isn't strong enough to run the pump and it'll break.

Another quick question, do the gears on the pump just comes off? I see people selling pumps that have the gear and some don't.
