I bought a late modle 715 gas and it had a 301 gas, have a friend with a late modle 715 gas and looking at a early modle 715 gas and neither one of them two have the cid stamped on the block, anyone know why? would these also be a 301? the stamping on my block is plain as day and the other two engines I cleaned up real good and there is no stamping at all. Justin

My book only has the 301 engine listed for the 715, it has the 263 for the 615. Hal

You are looking on the wrong side for the 301 numbers.Look on the right side up by the water pump on the block theirs a flat spot with the stampings.
