Can any one of you help put a rumor that I heard to rest? I heard that the gas cap replacement program was comming to an end next year. I was just wondering if that were true. Thanks

My tractor is 6 hrs away for the winter -- has anyone tried to get the gas cap without having the serial number handy?

Yes, it's true. Just saw an ad from International Truck & Engine along with an order form in a magazine. Can't remember what magazine, possibly Progressive Farmer.

It's true, and the website is legitimate.

I originally put out a warning that the website MIGHT be a scam due to several suspicious factors that I've detailed in past posts. Everything checks out OKAY.

It's high time that the offer ends. The newest IH gasser to have this gas cap problem is 30 years old now (766 gas), and the offer has been around for 26 years now.

I say yes. Go to long thread on this subject that is now on page 5 or 6 and you can form your own opinion. There is also thread on this on Red Power forum.

This was discussed a few days ago.

Bermuda Ken says that it is NOT TRUE and that the program is not coming to an end. If you don't know him, he is the parts manager for a Case/IH dealer and the author of several books on IH tractors and history.

If Bermuda Ken says it's not ending, it's not ending.

Here's a link:

International Truck is now trying to end this program in the near future.

New gas caps sell for about $25.

A few have abused the "free" gas cap program. Looks like thier "free" ride is ending.

Even with the abuse, this is cheap insurance to a fire where the operator dies as a result of a gas cap that leaked and was not replaced. I guess it will take one of those tragedies before they reinstate the program. I just hope it is not me.

One of the few things I got around to in a timely manner. When I first got my H I couldn't fill the gas tank over half way without having gas slosh out and stain the paint.(Never mind the blow-up factor.) Not a drop now, no matter how full. Woulda been worth $25 easy, but I wonder how much longer I'da put it off.
