Hello, A friend offered to sell me his Farmall M tractor. I want a tractor to keep my 1/3 mile long gravel driveway bladed and for misc other things. The tractor for sale is about a 1950, narrow front, runs great, very good sheet metal, pretty good paint, three point hitch with all new hydralics, drawbar, reversable heavy blade, brand new rear tires, front tires average to good, new generator and other mics parts. Everything works as it should.
The asking price is $1700.00, Does this seem fair for a tractor like this? Thanks

I think that is a very fair price, esp. since it includes the blade. I see those blades for around $500 used and the lift mechanism for another $300 so you got 1/2 the tractor price right there and I feel a good clean M like you describe is worth $1200 to $1500 any day.

That is a bit high for it. Unless someone added down pressure to the hydraulics, that rear blade is going to rise and fall with the terrain. It won't really do a good job grading for you. Offer them $1300 and see what happens. If you have to add down pressure to the hydraulics, then you will have a litte extra cash to do it.

that's a very fair price..... ..the tires , 3 point & blade alone are worth the asking price

With the paint, tires, and running condition the way it is, hydraulic lift, blade and all, that is very fair. You can't go out and buy anything like that, with that kind of power, size, and all to do the job for anywhere near that at the new tractor store. Plus you have a piece of nostalgia and no excuse not to come back here and get bit by the tractor bug. Harley
