It's alive and running, thanks to all for the help. I replaced the flywheel today and also went ahead and bought a new 6 button clutch and Pressure plate had it apart for the 3rd time figured I am not going to do this again for a long time. SO at long last the 560 is running as it should , thanks Tractor Vet you have been a great help. Can't wait to hook the plows to her to see how the new TA is working.

There"s another way to look at that. The pressure plate exerts a certain number of pounds of force. With 6 buttons you are spreading the force out over more surface area. It"s same way that narrower tires have better traction in snow than wider tires. That being said, the 6 button will work just fine.

Our 544 had a button clutch... chewed into the flywheel and ruined it. Was also pretty much useless for any delicate work where you needed to move an inch or two. Those button clutches just grab on and lurch you ahead!

Well if they are installed correctly and used properly they work just fine and now adays with the higher HP the old woven discs will not take the stress and the friendly EPA does not allow it . Now if the flywheel was not GROUND and the step was not cut correctly and your old foot is jumpy and ya did not seat the new clutch in then yes they do grab ahold , now they were not designed to be slipped so if you are a clutch slipper then guess what they will ware the flywheel and plate.

Yes, we slip the clutch. It's the only way to move the tractor 1/2" to line up the post hole digger, or other delicate loader work.

It was probably the original, with 5000 hours on it. Flywheels for 544's are like hen's teeth, and darn expensive too! I would rather put in 3 clutch disks than have to replace the flywheel. I believe it has a woven disk in it now for a 460 or 560...

Well from what i learned this past summer is that the only way to run a post hole digger was not on a tractor BUT on a skidsteer and now we are looken for one to buy . IT would put five holes in the ground before the one on the 806 could get the first one lined up and it would dig where the Danuser would only make cute littel round marks in the dirt and guess what no clutch slippage .
