Well i've started a new project. Now i've got the 784 in the shop. The TA only engages when it's cold and not under load. Is there some kind of adjustment on this or is the TA itself shot.

Hi Don, 784 is like a 684 and has a separate hydraulic pump run off the PTO shaft to control the T/A. The T/A pump is located in the bottom of the housing below the T/A, uses a portion of the return oil from the hyraulic oil cooler and pumps the oil to the T/A regulator valve and then to the selector valve. In direct drive the hydraulic pressure is applied to clutch disks to drive the output shaft. In T/A (low) drive the drive is mechanical thru a sprag clutch.

The I&T shop service manual explains how to test the T/A pump.

My brother had a similar problem with his 684 and he had a T/A eliminator kit installed as he dosen't use the T/A that much anymore.

Don't know with out running a pressure check might be as simple as a new hdy filter or new pump or it maybe a bad valve spring sticking valve or a bad T/A and since it is not setting here for me to put my gauges on it we are all guessen .
