CUB with positive ground and it is wired "correctly", IF I turn-on the ignition switch, should the AMP meter read positive 6 Volts therefore discharging the battery??

If you have a mag the guage shoudn't move at all.

No. If the amp meter reads volts it is broken (just a joke, with your terms). Amp meters read amps. If yours reads towards the right (+) with just the ign. on (not running)then the gauge is wired the wrong way. It would also indicate (+) when the lights are on, and should not. Take all wires off the gauge and put them on opposite terminals.

If you have a distirbutor rather than a rotor the amp meter should read aobut 2 amps or so discharge if the engien is stopped with the pints of the distributor closed, if they are open it should read nothign.
