I am looking to put electronic ignition on my H, and have two questions.

1) Do the EI units offered by Genesee and Petronix fit in the after-market Delco distributor (the one turned at 90°)?

2) Are these units similar or does one have an advantage over the other?

I appreciate the input guys.

I am not sure about the one from another but there is about ten different aplications so you need to get the one that matches your distributor serial #.
I can sell you one if the ones you find are pricey just let me know. JON

Magman, Do you think I would gain much for my two 300u. They both run pretty good now but take a long time to smooth out when cold.

Do I have to change harness, plugs and coil also or can you just changeout points.

Whats your cost as opposed to retail.

Dell

I dont know if they would help that problem or not maybe you need to try a different heat range plug. And slappy that sound about right on price with a good coil. The H is just sitting there right now in the garage just hoping that my dot.com takes off so I can make a few bucks to get some tires and fix the rearend gear thats bad well I guess its just the 4th5th slider I think. Hopefully this year otherwise I will take the bald loaded tires off one of the other Hs adn use them to break the old girl in better on the discs or something. But right now its suposed to go back to the 20s and 30s for highs so wont be doing any farming till late april probly. JON

Hi Jon,

Good to hear from you again. I trust that you are feeling better and are getting ready to take your H++ to a few tractor pulls.

Both types cost about $125 (this includes the "flame thrower" or "hot" coil). I believe that neither require external control so that they leave your tractor looking original with the exception of an extra wire.
