I just priced a pair of 14.9x38s for my 400 today. Tire dealer told me $900 for tires, tubes and mounting. seems high to me, is this the going price??

Well, millertire DOT com doesn't show tires that big online, but 6 ply Goodrich Power Grips with the 45 degree vintage-style lugs are $370 each, tires only. 14.9x38s will be a bit more expensive. Miller's a good indication of national average price.

Figure $50 for a tube, and $50 to mount, and you're well over $900... Tires ain't cheap.

It would help to know what tires you're pricing.

There has to be more than one and also many different brands and type of tread. What tread type are you looking for and what will be the use when you get them do you want 4ply or 6 or even 8 these things all make a difference. Will you be taking off rims and hauling to tire shop or do you want him to drive out and doo all the work these things all make price vary.

I agree with gene, but $900 sounds too high by about 1/3 for full price tires.

Shows>Link 14.9 X 38s for $225 then add $75 to $100 for tubes and mounting.

Yeah, but you don't know what you're gettin' for that $225. tiretown DOT com doesn't seem to tell you what brands they sell. Probably Chinese 4-ply tires...
