Ive got an aluminim carburator bowl that fits Faramll M-806 carbs. Im wondering what these were made for. has IH part number same as M, and same metering stem design as the SH-450. The metering stem does not thread into the carb bowl, but is retained by the brass plug at the bottom. Any ideads on what they used this aluminum carb bowl for? and why made from aluminum? Was there ever an aluminum throttle body produced too? Thanks! ChadS

Gene Bender posted the following: "These were for safety when putting mounted picker on as they wouldnt break like the glass ones did when and if you had a fire. An M burned next to our place and when the glass broke realy went fast. We always put the metal one and spark arrestor when mounting picker."

This quoted post is where I saw a mention of glass, and that's what I was replying to. I believe he mentions glass TWICE in that post...count 'em yourself. So I believe glass WAS mentioned...twice, in fact, as I just stated. Now ChadS didn't mention glass, but I replied to the Gene Bender post and not simply to ChadS's post.

While I haven't been everywhere and seen everything yet, I've never seen a glass carburetor bowl on an M. I've seen aluminum sediment bowls on the fuel strainers, and I've seen glass bowls on the old Holley Visi-Flow truck and auto carburetors, but I've never seen a glass carburetor bowl in an agricultural setting.

Learn something new every day, I suppose. Most carburetor bowls I ever saw on an M were almost black-looking metal, and appeared to be some form of cast iron...but, as I said, I haven't seen everything out there yet.

part number 6514-DB. Would M&W remake a carb bowl for any of their power kits? Exact replica of a M carb bowl, just made of aluminum. The choke is on the right side, werent the Super's have the choke on that side? Chad
