The lever on the side of the PTO that has the control rod attached to it has broken about 3 times in the last week while turning augers hauling out bins. we have tried spot welds to fix it but they keep breaking. Anyone else had problems with this, or have any suggestions. Thanks

There is usually little stress on that joint/connection. To avoid roasting the seal, it is probably necessary to take it apart to weld it strong. Used parts might be cheap, they don't break. Yours might have been bent, or wounded in some way, or bad from the factory. Good luck, be safe PTOs wrap Cloths.

the past two times it has broken stuck in gear so we have been hitting the clutch and killing the tractor each time which is becoming a problem, the lever is free to move back and forth onthe little shaft it is supposed to turn

I'm guessing you have something inside in a bind which is making it hard to shift out of gear.

Or does it just break while it is sitting running?

Are you trying to hold the PTO in gear?
