260A backhoe hydraulic problem

My 260A payline recently started acting strange. I began noticing occasional loss of power at the loader and backhoe when the RPM's were increased. Return to idle and the hoe digs fine - albeit very slow. The loss of hydraulic pressure is also associated with a whining sound somewhere near the rear of the tractor. I haven't had a chance to figure out where because I need someone to operate the hoe while I listen. Anyone have any ideas? The tractor moves in forward and reverse fine. Thanks for any help you can lend.

Check your fluid level in the transmission/rear end. The 260A like most newer IH models uses the rear end housing as the hydraulic reservoir. At rpm's above idle you may be sucking air into the hydraulic system which will effect hydraulic performance. If this does not solve the problem, the hydraulic pump is in the rear end as I remember. If the whin is present when the ldr/hoe hydraulics are not in use, you probably have a pump issue. If the whin is only present when a hydraulic lever is pulled it may be a hydraulic valve problem.
