The wobbly front end was the last project before the clean and paint...and it's finally tight!
The bushings were not bad, but if we had not wadded in, we never would have realized that the spacer under the thrust bearing was missing. The biggest pain was getting the upper oil seal out as it was corroded in and ruipped apart, next was getting the new one in as we elected to leave the front end on the tractor during the process...but it still wobbled horribly, so as you guys suggested we replaced the sector gear which took alot of wobble out. The final act was replacing the u joint and shimming the key way union...I can finally drive it in high gear!
Gegreased her today, noe it's time to take her back apart, do some blasting and flakey paint removal, then epoxy primer and finally lay the 2150 on...take her to a plow day, then it's PULLIN" Season! TY for all the help! Pete

Its great when you go down the road and you not all over the place and have to throttle down so you dont loose it!!! I got to do that same thing today, Did you end up shimming anthting? or aanything else I should look out for. The fornt end did not shake down the raod but the bolster was getting alittle play in it so I want to take care of that. Thanks for the help Andrew

Andrew, if the bolster has play it may be the bolster bushings; a big one at the bottom and a smaller one at the top. I got a whole rebuild kit from Carter and gruenwald, but the parts are available separately from CNH...I did have to shim the key way where the 2 shafts meet; bothe the key and the shaft. I was amazed how much shimming that and changind the u joint helped. Pete

Thanks we got it apart today and all went pretty well, I think we need to a shim to the bottom and a new lower bearing. Andrew
