Working on dads 706 C263. it has 3 slots on the pistons for rings. top 2 are compression rings ring end gap is correct. On the bottom set i have the waved ring and then 1 ring for above and 1 for below the waved ring. When I set them in the sleeve they overlap and there is no gap is that right? Is that how they keep the oil on the bottom? I think the machine shop checked it all but not sure, there not open now + I didn't pick the parts up dad did. Any help thanks maybe I CAN Post pics I you are confused

It can't be because the pistons came with the rings and everything was for the 263.

the entire block was sent out. cam , crank were checked over polished, new bushings, bearings, new sleeves pistons + rings. the machine shop installed the sleeves and cam?crank work thats it and i assume checked all the ring end gaps thats why i 'm wondering my question. I probably will have to wait till Mon to call them.

Unless it is a very new approach to oil control, There should be no overlap on the oil ring rails. The expander spacer (wavey spring)would bind on the double wide part of the scraper rail and cause excessive wear. The normal parts (from my experience) have end gap. I'll bet they are wrong.

What brand are they, and is there a website that would assist the installation.

One thing to be sure that you have .004 skirt to wall clearance and that means to FIT EACH PISTON TO THE HOLE THAT IT IS GOING INTO My self i don"t get to concerned on the end gap i worry more about the skirt to wall SO if you do not have a good set of outside Mic"s and a set of inside mic"s and a bore gause to check for any wrinkels SON ya got a problem . And also a ridged hone to make it wright as the quality of the parts has gone into the dumpster it is now like building a racing engine to get things to fit . Now you can ribbon fit the pistons with a .004 long feeler gauge and a spring scale but they are hard to come by. Yea i know the book calls for .0035-.0045 but this is how i do it not to tight and not to loose . Also did you check the cam??? the last three that i did i had to send the cam out to be rebuilt and install new cam fallowers.

I got thinking about that last nite on the oil ring problem and started thinking that maybe they gave ya the oil control ring for a 291 and not the 263 . Myself i don't care for the tisco brand and the dealer sold ya that because he made more money myself i order my parts from engine supply houses and get either sealed power or clevit. and have had good luck with that stuff.
