I saw a link on the JD page about a shift lever knob and reminded me to ask about the lack of a knob on my 53 SH. The lever is not threaded but I do not know if there ever was a shift knob on the tractor. Any body know what the original configuration was?

Thanks. Got any ideas how the threading was removed-I guess it had to have threads. Right now its rounded and straight.

They are push on type. Just put a little soap on them and push it on. Andrew

No they were never threaded. I sometimes use a little silicone. The only levers that were threaded is the ones made duing the War when they used an iron knob due to rubber shortages
