my engine has flat top pistons in it however they list a stepped piston and a flat top, can I install a stepped piston in place of the flats without any problems

napa has a great piston with about .800 domes , now that's a step head. made a big differance in a friends tractor

This mod WILL NOT affect your octane rating,(unless your still using kreosine), but the timing advance will have to be looked into.

Just did that with my 1941 W-4 ..same engine as an "H" ..no problems

Just make sure you have a real good crank-bearings- caps- and head. It is more power and more strain on your engine. Not a whole lot but sometimes a tiny bit will do it. Check for the clearance between the head an piston with the head a little loose and hand crank it over. Also consider that it may push up you octain needs. I know most of this I piked up from doing car engines but have seen run on troubles and such with tractors. Fixed one of the tractors with two head gaskets. My 2c. Jeffcat
