Look out fellas. I have found a 49 H the over the weekend. The retired farmer just said get it out of here. Motor is not stuck and overall condition is fair. Needs rubber for sure. I wish I had one of those fancy camera's to take the before and after pictures. I'm gonna haul it home this weekend, spent last weekend getting all the brush cleared away. So get ready for a bunch of questions on this ole girl.

I bought a 52' H over the summer and the next day had it running, talk about luck. I guess the trailer ride broke her loose. Had it on the forge harvester the day after that with 4year old gas in it.

I've got a 49 H. Best tractor ever in my opinion regardless of the fact that I own it or don't. Simplest beast in the world to work on. Enjoy it! It's a hobby!

Good luck with your H. I picked up a 52 H a few months back that hadn't run in a while. Surprisingly it didn't take much to get her going again...just a rebuilt starter, some good 1 gauge cables, and some fresh fluids. She starts and runs like a champ...even when that Wisconsin winter came back to visit last weekend
(-12 F). 6 volt did just fine!

Good luck with your find. There is a lot of good free information to be had with all the boys that hang out here.

Billy

Fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and you may get lucky and have it pop loose. I have an H that sat under an oak tree for 20 plus years, the engine was stuck and all I did was fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and it popped loose in less then a week

Old, I think you misread the post. He said it is not stuck.

Bring on your questions and everyone here will try to help you out. some may even have a used set of tires they may be willing to sell for less than new. There is not much that the people on here cannot help you with.

Either way the tranny fluid is stil a good idea. If it has sat for any length of time the vavles maybe stuck and the rings will be also

Probably a dumb question, but how do you get the tranny fluid out afterwards? Pull the head?

Simple, you remove the spark plugs and spin the engine over. Make a little bit of a mess but the out come is well worth the mess.
