504 Gas Utility

I've read that the 504 gas engines were sleeveless and therefore had a limited number of overhauls on them. I'm assuming this would be true for the utility version as well as the row crop version.

I've located a real straight 504 utility with a gas engine and a Westendorf loader that looks good and runs good, TA works, 3 point, PTO, etc.

Any other comments or thoughts that I should be looking for? I think I can get it for around $6,000 including shipping.

Here's a picture of it:

Thanks for any input.

Nathan,

I bought a 1967 504 utility 2 years ago. It has the IH2000 loader on it with a back blade and 5" Bush hog, delivered for $7,500

It had an issue with the three point lift controls that the previous owner repaired, but other than that it has been trouble free.

The C153 engine is sleeve-less, which makes it like pratically every other automotive engine out there.

It has been a good tractor for me.

Thanks

Randy

Well, I'm not sure I can get it for $6,000 shipped now. Looking like it would end up closer to $6,750 including shipping. Of course I haven't seen it in person either.

At that price it is getting awfully close to some of the 574's and 584's I've seen listed.

The guy did say that the sleeve thing was way overblown on these tractors and that you could always get them bored out and put sleeves in when it is time for an overhaul. He also said that the loader was nearly new and cost $3,000 by itself.

It is a pretty tractor, but I guess that shouldn't be the deciding factor!
