I'v been looking for a plow for our tractors for the past 6 months now. For our Super C or H, I think I found one but dont know to much if anything about plows. I just want it to plow and make a garden and go to a plowday. The plow is a 2 bottom John Deere on steel. It seems to be in good shape with all the lifts and what not, no welds that I could see. Are these JD plows any good? It should work with any drawbar right? anything to look out for. The guy wants $175 for it, is that resonable. Thanks for the help Andrew

Measure across the beams to see how big it is.Your SC may not pull a 2/14 or 2/16 very well(Or at all-2/16).My H will usually pull a 2/14 with ease, but not on alfalfa ground.I have a 2/14 and a 2/12 plow and the smaller one is the plow of choice for me now.I know its small, but I can pull it with either tractor, and its is fun.I haven't had any problems finding parts, but I haven't needed many either.A good small plow around here will bring from $35.00 to $200.00.If its complete and works,Get it, they don't come around every day. John.

Are these plows any good? Keep in mind that any brand or color you find will be 50 to 60 years old. They were all good plows in their day. Finding parts for any of them today can be somewhat difficult, but if you stick with a John Deere or IH built plow, finding parts should not be too difficult, simply because there were so many of them built. The price he is asking is not out of line if the plow is complete and functional. If it hasn't been used in quite some time you are going to have some tinkering to do.
If you are happy with the price and condition, go for it. It will be as good as any.

I would make sure parts are available for the JD plow. They made a two bottom plow for the Super C that had the fasthitch. Very easy to hookup and unhook. Did an excellent job plowing too. Hal

I have a 2 bottom, JD model 44 plow that I use with my H, and it works pretty well if the shares are in good shape. There are manuals available for these plows. It is important to set them up correctly to have them plow cleanly. I have to set the drawbar over to the right to make the furrow wheel run right. Be careful, a good working plow is fun to use.

I would like a fast hitch plow for the Super C but then I could only use it with that one tractor. Anyway were will the number on the plow be? It says Jd on the "beam". Is there a tag or something? Thanks for the help Andrew

There are (2) different JD 2 bottom plows (at least). The frame for the 44 is made out of solid rectangular steel bars. Mine has 'JD' on the backside of the rear brace between the two main rails, and 'No 44' on the second brace from the back.

The other 2 bottom plow had curved cast iron (steel?) beams. I don't know the model number for that one. Our neighbor has one and it is a very sweet plow.

Most of our soil is fairly sandy and my H will pull 2-16s, just about everywhere, in third gear. The exceptions are in the spots of solid clay or peat.
