The steel wheel on my plow is loose. I took it off and tried to take it apart to see what can be tightened, etc. I got the "hub" off, but how do you get the collar off the shaft? Can the collar be tightened to take out play? Are there any bearings in the thing, or just steel against steel?

Frank: Got the parts book right here in front of me. It looks to me like two piece hub, having two halves that bolt together and the same bolts hold the wheel on. Inside that are two bearings, (I'd call them bushings) that have a pin go through the axle between the two. I assume that pin holds the whole assembly on. Those bearings appear to have a notch that fits around pin, thus holdng them from turning, that would force hub to turn on the bearings. Does it look like that sounds.

If you wish to e mail me I can send you the part numbers. I doubt if there is anyway to tighten that, other than by use of shims.

The book shows 5 differnt wheels, the steel are as I described. There are rubber tire options and they have tapered roller bearings.

If you want part numbers may I suggest you find a couple of numbers so I know which diagram to use.

Thanks, Hugh. I cleaned up the unit, pounded out the pin, and it all came apart. Some of the numbers are: 521155R1, 521156R1, 521165R1, and 521166R2. These are the bearings and hubs, etc.

You are right, these cannot be adjusted.

I would also be interested in the parts diagram for the unit with a rubber wheel, as I just found one that I will get tomorrow. It has real bearings instead of bushings.

Frank: The inside bearing is part number 521 115 R1. The outside bearing is 521 156 R1. The pin between them is 521 383 R1. Inside box or hub 521 165 R1. Outside box or hub 521 166 R2. Steel wheel pan 522 995 R1. Scrapper for steel wheel is 523 009 R1. The axle for steel wheel is 524 504 R92.

I don't have the technology to send you the diagram. There are two pneumatic rear furrow wheels listed. One is for rigid beam plow, while the other is for the trip beam plow. The actual hub, bearings, seals, wheel and tire are the same for both setups. The only thing different is the mounting and axle arm going to the plow. Looking at this I expect the parts for the trip beam plow will work on either rigid or trip beam plow.
