Hello, I have an H I use for logging and I want some more traction for it. Does anyone know where I can get a used set of tracks by Arps or someone else? I would prefer tracks so as not to make the tractor any wider.

Half tracks will give exceptional floatation and good traction. Heavy ring chains will give spot traction, a totally back breaking ride, and almost a sure bet to driveline problems, with the sudden tractive effect of the ring biting. Half tracks also will do the same but to a lessor degree, and the operator has more of a situation control. Brakes will be needed to assist turning. A careful operator (remember, these tractors are old and used) should have fewer problems with half tracks. Many were used in this area for wood and maple syrup work.... QR..

I have a set on a Super H, works wonderful in the snow. A bone yard a couple of miles from me has a couple of sets. I would recommend getting the all steel linked ones as the rubber links deteriorate as they get older. Email is unlocked. Pat p.s. where are you located? Im in Wisc

Pat, Do you have a picture of your H with the halftracks. I have never, but would like to see one set up that way.

Where in WI would that bone yard be?

I have seen some tactors like a Fordson and an 8N with halftracks that were made by Bombardier. My 2 cents

Well I should refine myself. I want more ground flotation, but duals would be cumbersome width wise for me. I do have chains I can run.

You could just use some tire chains on it, like the "real" log skidders sometimes do. Just a thought.
