Well, I continue to search for the loader tractor that I don't really need but would like to have.

I've expanded my search to other colors and am still coming up short handed.

One thing I've noticed is that the late 70's early 80's international tractors aren't priced much higher than the mid 60 model international tractors.

I've seen some 574's and 584's with loaders in the $7,000 range right in line with 706's. I realize the 706 had a little more hp but the 574's are about 15 years newer for the same price.

Are these less reliable tractors than the older ones? Any other reasons why they would be the same price? Are they just not old enough to be collectible?

Thanks, Nathan

Have you looked at a IH 684? They are a nice tractor to have and as an example a dealer near me has one with a loader, 1800hrs for $12,500.

Just keep in mind that a 574 or 584 can't even begin to compare to a 706. Different tractors designed for different jobs, both legendary in their own rights. Completely different rights, though :)

The 1970-80's IH tractors are still be used for WORK!!! The earlier made ones are slowly being turned into trailer queens or collector pieces.

The prices of the worker vs non worker tractors reflects this trend too.

I think you pretty much nailed it down in your last sentence. They are not old enough to be collectible.
