The top hose on my 330U has been giving me trouble. The top hose slips off the radiator after running for a while. I have a hose clamp on it but it slips off and sprays coolant everywhere. Shouldnt the outlet on the radiator have a small lip on the very end that the hose clamp will catch on if the hose pulls away. The outlet on my radiator is smooth. I did order a new hose cause mine is looking pretty dry rotted so maybe that will help.

The hose should fit tightly and not slip off. Duhhh, I guess you know that ☺ But anyway, off the top of my head do I remember that the hose is not the same size on both ends?

Yes, I know that the hose has two different size ends. I may have been tightening the clamp too tight. I was playing with it today and tightened the clamp snug and have had no problems so far today.

Sounds like its building pressure at the top hose, thats either a plugged radiator or a bad head gasket.I had an old Chrysler with a plugged radiator many years ago....it would pop little holes in the top tank like gysers all the time. The pressure had to go somewhere afterall. The top hose swelled up twice normal size.Replacing the radiator solved the problem....well,that problem anyway.

Is the radiator cap not releasing at set pressure, possibly? Could be too much pressure.

Try using 2 hose clamps if you have room. Hal

I too have dealt with radiators missing the hose lip. The sandpaper will definitely help, but one other thing I have done is to use a different style of hose clamp. The type I am talking about are used on silicon style hoses. They will look like your typical hose clamp, but have an extra stainless steel band around the inside. They tend to hold more even pressure across the hose instead of scrunching it up as the serrations dig in when you tighten a standard type clamp.

If you have a heavy equipment parts supplier around, try them first since a lot of the big machines are using silicon style of hoses.

Good Luck!
Billy

Roughing it up with 60 grit will give it some "tooth" to hold on to.
