Well, I took my starter in for repair and while it was in the shop, I started the tractor via the hand crank method. It started just fine. ('bout like propping an airplane) I neglected to remove the field wire like others have in the past, and now I have no charge after re-installing my starter. Anyone know what might be wrong. Did I fry the regulator? Is it repairable on the component level? I tried polorizing the generator and the problem still exists.

Thank You,

MACE

When you removed the starter you also removed battery voltage to the generator and you shouldnt run a generator without being hooked to a battery so now that the starter is in place you now should have batt volts to the reg so just polarize the gen by jumping across the batt term on the reg to the armature post on the gen this should make the system charge again.

Follow Bob M's advice. Starting and running the tractor without the starter installed should have no effect on the charging system.

You need to trouble shoot your charging problem
and here is Bob M's troubleshooting flow chart
for generators. It has a step by step procedure
to fine the problem. Hal
