i have a m tractor that seems to have white paint under the red. this gives me reason to believe that it could have been a demonstrator model, but how does a person know without a dought, since all demonstrators were ordered to be repainted after the original sale. any help on this subject would be very much appreciated

The undercoat or primer that IH used was a white color. I wish I had a nickel for every time that someone thought that they had a demonstrator after they pressure washed their favorite Farmall..... . :>)
My IH 600 has the same white paint underneath.

To confirm what John said, no white M demonstrators, only Cub, Super A, and C in the 1st quarter of 1950. As stated many times, IH would paint any tractor any color the customer wanted. Some Highway departments use white, for example.
