Well ya know it was cold, then the electronic ignition module in the furnace went out, no way tol light ( thank goodness I have a add on wood unit). Engine heater on the 544D went out some time in the last 48 hours, had her plugged in since wed night and she was not 1 degree warmer than the air. Wife and kids train was 6 hours late for a trip to visit freinds in MI and they wouls have missed their transfer in chicago, we had already dropped her van off at the shop for some work. Soooo, after deciding to drive and renting rather nice car from Hertz, she was on her way. My 10 year old chessie has been gravely ill for a couple day, bring her in again yeaserday after all the fiasco's and am told she does have a massive tumer in her inerds and would never survive surgery. This dog has been the most loyal, protective, any kid loving, sweet mannered to old people, warning away strangers dog I have ever seen. I made the choice to put her down right away to spare her agony without talking to the wife and kids cause it will just ruin their trip. This morning I found out I have strep throat. what a day

It seems as though you had some trials and conquered each one ! I know the dogs may have been the worst . I rescued dogs and cats for years and had to stop because we couldn't adopt any of them out for various reason's . They all have some sort of physical or behavior problem's . We reached 20 dog's at one point and one by one they are getting old and passing . We're now down to 15 and it doesn't get any easier to lose one . A couple years ago we had a awesome 8 year old Rottweiler that we raised from a pup that got the same kind of belly cancer as you described but we spent $1500 for surgery . He died on the table . The following week our yellow lab was diagnosed with the same type cancer but she was 14 so we had to put her down , we had had her for about 12 years . We have ten dogs that live in the house because they are short to medium coat dogs ranging from the biggest ( 150lb Rottweiler ) down to a 4lb toy poodle that's blind and deaf . They all play in the yard together and get along or they have to deal with me ! Someone dropped off a young adult chocolate lab a couple months ago when we were not at home . He's proving to be a cat killer ( he hasn't yet actually gotten one though he's trying ) so he has some training other than the normal housebreaking and discipline training to go through . Sorry for the rambling , I like dogs ! Just not so many ! ...Randy

PS - I've never been bitten by a dog in my life !

God Bless Dave. We had to have our 2 Airedales put down when we were in Kaiserslautern and after 14 1/2 years it darn near killed us. Those two dogs we got when we were assinged to a Brit Battalion in England, went to Germany from there, to Washington, DC, Newport, Rhode Island, Ft Campbell, KY, Atlanta, GA, Camp Darby, Italy, Heidelberg and then on to K-Town and never once messed up their shipping boxes. They were definitely family! We got another Airedale pup when we got back to the states and he's now 9 but still a wonderful replacement for Paddington and Dixie! Hang in there--hope the family got home safe and sound! Steve

1. So thats who brought the deep freeze weather to mi.

2. Mechanical things always seem to break at the wrong time.

3. The integrity, love and loyality of a canine friend is a gift that will stay with you forever. You are blessed to recognize it.

We had to put our Keeshond to sleep last year and our Chow was as sad as we were. She kept looking for her. A few days later we bought a Keeshond
pup thanks to Tanner from VA that has posted on here. He saw some in the DC paper and sent us the info.

I would get another pup if I were you. Our Chow loves that pup and puts up with a lot. Hal
