Dad was talkin to a guy, he has a 706 gas, w\f, he"s not sure if the ta is good, he says it has a Million hours on it, tin is straight, it does run. His dad bought it new, He"s a ford man. It would be nice if it was a diesel, but hey, a gasser would work. What is a 706g in this condition worth? I was thinkin no more than $2000CDN if the ta is good. Not sure about tires. He asked dad if the tractors had to be farmall, dad says is there any other kind? Also what would an overhaul kit cost for it if it needed it?

I have about $1800 in a 460 C221 (your 706 engine is larger) for a rebuild kit, head work, hot-tanking, new cam, reground crank, new oil pump, etc.

Sounds about right.
And I know exactly what a rebuild will cost.
Engine kit $700 Wait till you check the crank before you buy the kit w/ bearings.
Valve job $580
Regrind the crank $250
Pleasure of tearing up some dirt with big RED
Priceless!!!

$2000 CDN is a smokin' deal if the TA is bad, let alone if the TA is good!

I'd pay about $3500 US for a 706G in good running condition, no major mechanical problems.

It's still a deal with the T/A out and a bad engine if the rest is sound . stop and think about it rebuid engine 15-1700 and a new clutch and T/A with new pump and gskt.kit and new MCV spring kit 1200 more and ya got a good horse that will last for many years and has all the modren conviences and will start in all weather and has enough weight to do whatever ya want and never hurt it. but still small enough that it can make a fine loader tractor. so how much is to much and 10 years down the road it is going to be worthe the same as ya got in it . and ya know what ya got . Look at all the guys that sink 3-4 grand in a M-450 and ya got half the tractor .
