Ok, I should know this but am not confidant. When jumping a 12 volt system on an early 70's IH with the series 6 volts. What is the proper way to jump start it with a 12 volt battery? I am assuming I would attach the pos to pos on the batt that is wired direct to starter and the neg to the frame or ground of the other battery. Please no shots I just wanta make sure it is done right

Sounds exactly correct to me, too! Ideally, you'd probably be best off going straight to the solenoid (fewest losses just in case the cable is iffy/bad), but since the solenoid is almost never easily accessible, the wire running straight to it is the next best connection.
