1066 left brake

I am getting ready to tackle the left brake on my 1066 that I purchased a few weeks ago. I knew when I bought it that this brake was not working well but the other side works great. You can push hard on it in the field and very little braking occurs and needless to say no assistance in turning is realized. I have an IT manual(I'm cheap!!!) and it seems to show adequate directions and exploded view of assembly. From it I am assuming that the bull gear will not be removed when I pull brake piston housing. Is that correct?
Any other surprises I can expect other than $$$ for parts. Looks like 2 discs, inner and outer piston seal rings, o-ring on piston housing and oil seal in this housing are the parts I am looking at purchasing.
I am hoping everything else is ok as there is no oil leaking from housing assy.(outside) at present.

Might want to check the preload on the bull pinion shaft bearings and reshim if needed, since the seal will leak when they get loose. Very easy to do on a 1066, if you've got a manual.

It is pretty much stright foward but the one thing that ya have to pay close attenchion to it the adjusters and getting the 4 littel snap rings set correctly and make sure that the adjusters are not broken they can be a real PTIA to set i have made a fixture to set them but it is just my thing since i have done a bunch and it just made the job go faster for me . Just set down and read the brake section over carefully and have at it . clean all the surfaces where the O/Rings ride with 180 emery and lube the serfaces with white grease that the O/Rings ride on and be careful when putting the housing over the bullgear shaft so ya don't cut or dislocate the seal spring on assy. . As always if ya got a problem just yell.
