A right side step was optional on the 666 & 686, one should bolt right up on the 656

I have a 1967 model 656 gear shift row crop that does have a right hand step. Certainly looks factory to me. Fenders both have hand hold cutout and bracket around the shift lever and the TA lever both act as hand holds.

Hi Eldon,

Sure would like to see a picture of that. Is the right side a "forward-leaning" step like the left?

Dennis,

Boy, I just don't think there is such an animal.

656s didn't have a right step nor a right side hand hold, that I know of.

I beleive Allan is right. The only ones I've seen are fabricated not manufactured.
They have taken a left step and made a bracket for it.
I got a step waiting to go on a tractor that I will have someday.

Allan: Your right, no provission for any factory step on the right side of a 656. Couple of threaded holes in the torque tube, wherby one could fabricate a decent looking step. I never did as I installed a cab with steps on both sides. However due to proximity of gear shift lever, throttle lever and hydraulic levers, plus two brake pedals versus one clutch pedal. I'll venture to guess that right cab door got less than 1% of total use. I don't think my being left handed made the difference, as my hired hands were right handed and they did the same.

This was also true of the larger chassis 06, 56 and 66 series tractors even though they did have a bit more room, the left door was still the side of choice. Just look at tractors around the country, paint on grab handles is still in better shape on right than on left.
