Split the 300 tonight, after half an hour of unsuccessful prying we discoverd that we had missed 2 bolts underneath the fuel tank. I thought to myself, "that might help" But eventually we got it apart and I felt like a real dumba$$.

I had a pro mechanic take in my 79 chev pkup 4speed to put in a new throwout bearing.
He said it would be done in about 4 hours. After about 8 hours and several phone calls I drove out to see what the problem was.
He was just about to take the bellhouse and pressure plate off because he "didnt have room" to get the trans out. I said ya see those metal screws sticking out the bottom of the floorboard, thats a 2 ft panel thats removed to give you plenty of room to slide the tranny out. He acted surpised and ambarrassed and in 40 minutes I was drivin the truck home.

Don't feel to much like a dumb--- we have all been there in one way or another. It is good that you had found some humor in it though. Or at least were willing to share your experience with the rest of us. Brad
