I need to make my super m lose some weight so if we can get away to the RPRU my freind can haul it with his 560. my target is 5500-5800 pounds. I'm swapping the schwartz wide front for the narrow one off our 400. It has a pair of wheel weights (2x150#'s) which will be coming off. As it sets now it weighs about 6600-6700. I figure that should put me at 6000-6100. I really don't want to unload the tires but I think I may have to, at least temporarily. That could work though, as I am also planning to have all my rims powder-coated. The only other thing I can think of is the hydraulic pump. I know it's a big chunk of cast iron but what's it weigh? And the valve and filler tube has to come off to pull the pump too, right? How much fluid does a 15.5-38 tire hold anyhow? I'm thinking out loud here but input would be helpful. thanks

mine is a an early one with the belly pump, the dealer used it for a demo unit the year it was built and my grandma bought it the next spring. The pulley ass'y came off years ago after grandpa ran along a tree plowing and the pulley stopped the tractor. It's had the same peice of 1 inch plank covering the hole and the schwartz wfe ever since. Sounds like empty tires will be the easiest way to go. 6700 less 1100(fluid) less 300(weights) less 200(wfe est'd) would be about 5100 pounds. I feel like I'm over-guesstimating some losses here, but that's about the same as my freind's 560 stripped for pulling. and we have some plastic barrels so fluid storage won't be a problem, and I have to have them pumped to powder coat the rims anyhow. I figure that's the best protection from the calcium they will get.

Your estimates actully sound pretty reasonable, including the defference between the wide and narrow FE's.

I've never weighed an M belly pump assembly but would guess it to be in the 80 - 100 lb range.

Depending on how much they are filled, each 15.5 x 38 tire holds 550 - 600 lb of CaCl solution.

FWIW my Super M (late production Stage II with factory live hydraulics, narrow front end, unloaded 14.9 x 38 tires, one pair of wheel weights and a full gas tank) weights 5,560.

You can pull the belt pulley assembly if it has one and replace the opening with a plate. I would guess the belly pump is going to give you 85-100 lbs. The filler tube will come out the bottom with the pump you shouldn"t have to remove.

If filled to valve level, the fluid will weigh between 550 and 707 lbs per tire depending on the calcium concentration.
