My Cub does that until it warms up. You need to take the choke off a little at a time until it is warm this time of year. That could take 3 or 4 minutes to warm up enough to take the choke off in cold weather. If it dies then it's time to check the fuel line/filter etc.

Disconnect the fuel line to the carb and check the flow. line could be clogged some.

Take the air intake pipe off and check the position of the choke plate in relation to your lever setting. Ed

My first step would be to clean the high speed jet. It is the brass 3/8" hex on the side of the carburetor. Clean the small hole in the center of the end of the jet. Do not alter the hole size in any way. A 10 minute job. The high speed jet is not adjustable on the CUB.

Check you fuel flow from the tank, may have a clogged fuel line, if thats good you probably need to rebuild the carb.

Adjust the carburetor, if that doesn't help, completely disassemble it, and properly clean it.
