I just got a quote to install a new TA in my 656D of around $3,000. This seems high to me and I am tempted to just do it myself. Have tools and equipment, but not as much time as I would like. They are telling me 20 to 30 hours at $65 an hour. I have never changed a TA but this sure seems like a bunch of time.

Opinions?

Thanks, Tip

Don't Know your locality, but Bill's Repair in Kalona, Ia has an add in Ia Farmer Today with 706 thru 66 series tractors -- TA job $1950. Assume it's parts & labor.

Thanks guys - that is what I was looking for. I think I am going to do it myself - I'll be studying the shop manuals this weekend and jump into it next week.

Regards, Tip

Tip, it ain't that hard to do, but you need a way to seperate the tractor without eating it. But if you can get it apart, the tractor vet can almost put it together for you over the computer. I've seen him walk guys through just about anything over the wire. Must be nice to have that much experience. I sure wish I did. Harley

Well it should take about a good day and a half or so so i am sayen around 16-18 hours and around 450-525 for that T/A as my books are a littel outdated and while your in there a new clutch and PPa/ and the rest of the junk along with gskts and such about 300 more and i wished i could have got 65 and hour . So if ya want to DIY and have any problems i'll help ya as much as i can other then twisten the wrenches . If it was close to my back yard i would do it for almost half that.
