Finally got my crank shaft back from the machine shop. Also figured I would add a photo of the head after I had it redone.

This is how you get them back. All wrapped up in cellophane. They did have to build up the #5 rod journal and then cut it back down.

Mains were cut to.020 under and the rods where cut to .030 under. I give Keith at Dordals a lot of grief all the time, but it sure is nice having his shop just 3 mi down the rd. The price he charged me was about the same as all the quotes I had gotten from places quite far away. Saved me a lot of hassle just dropping it off at his place and he sent it down with some of his stuff. Picked it up when done. I am sure he got it done at one of the places I got a quote from. So for the same money Keith gets to put a couple bucks in his wallet. Instead of all of it going to the machine shop and I get free shipping :-)

I will sure feel better when the crank is in and all the pistons are attached.

Here is a photo of all the shinny new valves in the head.

OK I am now on the back end of this deal. Time to get it all back together.

Nice machine work,
I'd check with National Bushing here in St. Cloud, or NAPA on the other side of Division.

Hi Kelly,
Now what is that tire iron doing anywhere near that shiny head? LOL! They sure were skimpy with the head bolts on that engine, weren"t they? It just seems like there should be more.

I"m in the middle of rebuilding my D282 in my 706. It will need an entire rebuild kit, with bearings and all. I guess if I was just looking for bearings, I"d check with my local TISCO dealer, and then maybe NAPA. What about the guys who did your machine work? They will have sources for parts too.
