ALL. I am installing factory power steering on my 400 gas tractor. I put on the appropriate factory relief/priority valve and associated touch control valve in the first slot with the plug in it. There does not appear to be enough pressure or flow to the steering torque motor until I dead head one of the touch control valves and elevate the hydraulic pressure and then it works good. The rest of the hydraulics for the fast hitch and implements work super. The power steering motor worked well previously with the aftermarket belt driven pump. I am stumped. What do I need to test, rebuild, or install next?
Thanks in advance!
DeWayne

THANKS GUYS, THE PLUG IS BETWEEN THE VALVE AND THE TOWER. THE PARTS ARE USED. I GUESS I WILL NEED TO START TO DISASSEMBLE TO SEE IF ANYTHING IS STUCK IN THE PRIORITY VALVE.

Where did you put the plug? The plug goes between the first hydratouch valve and tower. What this does is give the power steering priority over you hydratouch valves. If this plug is in the wrong place you will not be forcing hydraulic fluid to you hydraulic motor until a valve is pulled.

I bought the factory set up for my 350 and had a shop in town install it. The little plug had fallen out and they were unsure of which side of the valve to put in on. The first time they guessed wrong and the tractor had the same symptoms that Dewayne describes. They switched the plug to the inside and now it works like a champ.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY INSTALLING FACTORY POWER STEERING? IS THERE A KIT YOU CAN BYE OR IS THIS A USED OLDER UNIT? MY 450 HAS A BEHLENS ON IT AND IT IS SHOT, JUST CURIOUS IF THERE IS AN OPTION THERE THAT I AM NOT AWARE OF.

I would suggest your problem lies in the power beyond unit or they way it is plumbed in. I have installed factory power steering on a 350 and I know you need the priority valve that you speak of and it needs to be on the left side (sitting on the tracctor) and I assume you have that metal (u pipe) plumbed in from it back to the hydraulic bank.
