Hi Guys
I had the stall in tall grass with my 154.Really Ped me off.I about gave up on it.Then I got to talking to this old dude.He told me how to set it up and I can mow 4-5 inches in 2nd. He told me that the frount of the blade needs to be 3\8 to 1\2 of a inch lower then the rear. He said if it is levle or the rear is lower then the front it would be like trying to cut a 120 inch swath. And that would be a hard job for an H Bill

I HATE mine for mowing! If I hadnt promised it to my 4 year old when he gets a little older, Id sell it! Too slow in second, weak in taller grass, and forget it if you miss cutting for a couple of weeks!

John is correct about that. If you want to mow tall grass this is NOT what you want. It really doesn't have the power for the size of mower if the grass gets tall. Of course you can lift the deck or not take a full swath, but then you mow for twice as long.

As the others said great little mowing tractor. Can probably push snow as well with weights and chains. 3-point hitch is highly coveted and a little rare. PTO is non-standard which is the biggest drawback. Great little website dedicated to the numbered series on yahoo. Prices range from $1500 to $3000 depending on condition. People pay $500 or more just for the 3 point hitch if you can find one. Even more rare there are some small front end loaders for this tractor.

I looked it up and a Cub's max power is 10.4 hp on PTO, which isn't bad considering they only have a 59.5 ci motor.

Personal opinion - they are a good mowing tractor, not practical for much of anything else.
It utilizes a starter / generator system just like the lawn tractors did and the clutch is back by the transmission rather than at the flywheel.

Randy, Some have three point but not all. Horsepower is 12 to 15 depending on who you talk to, however many it does have its not enough. The deck lifts with hydraulics but is gravity down.
