H hydraulic question

I have a 52H with a McCormick loader all original stock hydraulic set-up. This past weekend oil kept coming out of the right cylinder vent when I lifted the loader, or lowered it. Why might this be? I replaced the lift-all pump last year, put in 6 quarts of standard 30 oil, and the loader was working great until last weekend. Thanks for the information.

Sounds like the seal (cup) in the cylinder has given up the "ghost".
You will need to replace the cup (may be called "leather") in the offending cylinder.
Not hard, just a little messy.

What is the model number of the loader?

That's a good question. I really don't know. It is red, but pretty rusty. It had a forked bucket on the front that was trip lever activated with your right arm. The back of the loader frame mounts to the rear axle, and it was two supports that comes down from the trip lever area to the front of the tractor by the radiator. Does this help?

Sounds like either a #30 or #31. Here's the deal, you have oil leaking from the vent plug. Actually, there is not supposed to be a vent plug. There is supposed to be another hose screwed into that port, and this hose is supposed to be connected to a tee fitting, along with the hose from the cylinder on the other side, and the tee fitting is then connected to the fill pipe of the belly pump. In theory, the belly pump does not hold enough oil to fully extend the cylinders of the loader, so the front portion of the cylinder is used as a reservoir to hold more oil. As the loader cylinders are extended, the oil that is in reserve in the front portion of the cylinder is then pushed into the belly pump so that the loader will go all the way up. Does this make sense to you?

I had that problem on my H. I had the loader off for the summer and the seals dried out. I took apart the rams and there was a leather seal. All I did was clean the seal and "work" it out streching it little by little and belive it or not it has not leaked since and that was back September. Andrew
