I am looking for front tires for my friends old Farmall Cub tractor. Size 400x12 rib style. I don't know the model year at this time, but will find out later.

I agree with the rest of the guys.

Try one of the local tire shops - that's all they do is tires. They will be able to get you 4:00 x 12s for the front of the Cub. If they say different, walk down the street to the next tire shop. Also if you friend does not want the 3 rib tractor front, 12" boat tires work just as well.

m.e miller tire is located in ohio and they sell tires for cubs. I live in NE Indiana and just a few miles, (around 2 I think) from the ohio indiana border is a town called monroe indiana and located in it tire place called zurcher tire and they can get you anything you want for tractor tire, they are the tire supplier for quite a few tire stores in this part of indiana and I have never had probles getting anything there, its were I buy all my tractor, impement, and car tires. Its were I bought the tires on my cub and the single front tire for my B and thats a hard one to find.

Thank you Gene B. I will relay the info. I just got this computer for X-mas and I'm amazed with the tremendous help that good folks donate to the un-informed like myself. Now if I could just find a good used 10mm revolver/S+W Model 610. Oh well... Thanks again. BIGGER ED(BIG-ED was already taken).

Here in Central Ohio, no one lists tires of this spec. An outfit in northern Ohio lists a 4.00-12 CARLISLE Rib Implement tire. Is this what is used on an old FARMALL CUB w/belly mower? Thanks.

No. A rib implement tire is different from a "tri-rib" front tractor tire. The implement tire is not much more than a slick with some grooves in it, while a tri-rib tractor front will have one high rib in the middle and a lower rib on each edge.

I find it VERY hard to believe that you can't find a tire shop that can get you a pair of tires. Don't you have any tire shops that specialize in equipment and tractor tires in your area? Ohio wasn't a vast citified megalopolis last I checked. Lots of farmland out there still...

If you're desperate, there are always people trying to sell tri-rib fronts on Ebay, there's tuckertireDOTcom, wwwDOTgemplersDOTcom (just replace the DOT with a . and put it into the "Address" window in your web browser.
