I have seen alot of H's with X1 onthe serial tag,I'm told the X1 stands for an small warm up fuel tank for distilate fuel use. I recently saw one with a tag that read X1A, What do'es the "A" stand for Thank's

I just got an H witha X1 on the tag and it has the small tank and hood for it. I don"t know what might have been changed since 1946. But X1 stands for gas only

I think that the X1A stands for a gasoline engine with low speed gears.

The A suffix means it has a low speed 1st gear.

You've been informed wrong. The X1 indicates a gasoline only tractor. This tractor will not have the small starting tank. I am not certain on the A suffix, so I won't guess.

Many of the old Farmalls that were origionally distillate, were converted to straight gas engines and the X1 was added to the serial #. I have two like this. Both still have the distillate heads with the part #s ground off with a grinder and the gas head part # hand stamped on the side of the head.

Wow. What's left to believe?
It would be just like people to do that. How are we going to keep all this stuff straight? They're just trying to start trouble. Wm
