Roundup is one of the most harmless chemicals there is to humans and pumps, not to weeds. Been using Roundup since it was an experimental in the 70's, MON 2139, it does NOT damage pumps any more than any other chemical and much less than many.

All this comedy aside, a different division of the company I work for is one of the largest pump manufacturing companies in the US. They use different grades of Stainless Steel with better corrosion resistance and better more chemical resisitant material in the seals & O-rings in their "Roundup-Ready" line of pumps than in the normal line of pumps. If Your going to spray Roundup and don't want pump problems spend the few extra $$$$$ to make the pump Roundup Ready.

Dr.Evil: Get real man, there have been a lot of chemicals out ther much harder on a pump than roundup. I've sprayed thousands of gallons of roundup with a centrifical pump. Roundup, one of the easy ones in my opinion.

"Crescent" wrench
"kleenex" tissue
"Channel Lock" pliers
"Vise Grip" pliers
"Roundup Ready" pump

Where will it all end!!!

Avery: I have to agree with Nat, a pump is apump is a pump, don't think it will matter what the chemical is.

Only experience I've ever encountered with spray pumps is some of the wetable powders were very hard on roller pumps. Piston, diaphram or centrifical pumps stood up to those much better, enough so, they were more economical. Then when it came to insecticides requiring higher presures, piston or diaphram were the only way to go. Roundup is so far from any of that criteria, I can't see it needing any special pump. Roundup is the same chemical regardless of whether you spraying it on a roundup ready crop or any other application.

If you are using hydraulic agitation then a high volume pump like centrifical does have some bnefit, but that would be the same with any chemical.

As long as you have your Roundup Ready gloves and gogles on and only pull the sprayer with your Roundup Ready tractor you should be OK using that pump. Oh don't forget to wear your Roundup Ready shoes or that pump will never work.
Just having fun.

Hmm, Dad's been spraying Roundup with a plain old PTO driven roller pump he bought at Central Tractor 15-odd years ago for... 15-odd years. Still works just fine.

Ask this guy if he has a bridge he wants to sell you, or maybe some ocean front property in Arizona.
