I am in the beginning stages of restoring my grandfathers 1940 mdoel h. One of the rear wheels is going to need to be replaced because of too many patches where the rim has rusted through. Is there any where I can purchase a new rim or am I going to have to find used? The tractor has spoke centers, originally purchased on steel. I live in central Florida and finding anything for old Farmall's is very difficult. The tractor was brought down here from northest Ohio. Any help guys would be greatly appreciated.

I have 2 Farmall H rims with spoke hubs. 1 has no tire and the other has an inflated 13.6X38 tire and tube. The rims with hubs need to be sand blasted and painted. Some deterioration around the valve stem hole from probably having fluid in it at one time. Those can be patched and redrilled. No fluid now. I am in Dubuque, Iowa. Pretty expensive to ship unless someone is going your way. 150 buys them on my property. Jim Bradley 563.583.3714

One good source is probably close to where your tractor came from - Miller Tire in Wauseon, OH.

There are probably some places closer to you. Once you decide which size you want, you can probably use a Sawzall to cut the old rim off and weld another to the spokes. It wouldn't matter what color tractor the rim came from, as long as it was the proper size and style.

My guess is that the cut off spoke center wheels will be very hard to find. Cast rear wheels and bolt on rims are plentifull but if you have to have them shipped to Florida could be rather expensive. 2 cast centers and rims will probaly weigh 300 lbs. (just a guess).

Coltsfan, In response to your question, yes you can buy new rims for the H. Your local tire dealer should have catalogues that will show the correct rim for the H. There are many sources where I am in southern Ontario, but that won't help you. Any reputable tire dealer should be able to find you a rim. There may be other responses here that will give you some sources closer to or in Florida..... Mike in Exeter Ontario
