Want to paint the muffler and manifold on my newly overhauled B. It has the stock looking, traditional silver/gray muffler and raincap. Any recommendations of a heat resistant silver/gray paint for this? I want it to look stock, but look good and not burn off the paint. Also, I'd like to paint the exhaust manifold black. I've seen heat-resistant black paint for woodstoves/BBQ's. I believe some have a heat resistance to 500 degrees and others have it up to 1200 degress. Would 500 degree resistance be enough for the manifold and muffler?

I bought some muffler paint from Eastwood that has worked out really well.

Make sure to read the directions on the paint can. I painted my muffler with aluminium high temp paint on the Farmall H I was restoring and after I painted it I saw on the can that you are supposed to run the engine for some length of time to bake the paint. I wasn't at a point where I could run the tractor, so I couldn't bake the paint. The paint is now starting to peel off. Roger

Did you use sandpaper to buff the muffler first or did you paint over the new paint on a new muffler. I sand them enough so the new paint has a better chance to stick. Mine have been holding up for several years without peeling or even discoloring.

They make a ceramic paint the holds up very well on manifolds and exhaust pipes. Most good auto parts stores should have it in stock or be able to get it.

HI-TEMP aluminium will work well on the muffler. The hi-temp bq stuff will work on the mqanifold if you want it black as original were painted red with the rest of engine and whatever burnt off was the way it was. Your tractor paint anyway you like.
